Trenton couple arrested for aggravated assault and drug charges

web posted July 30, 2010

TRENTON – a Trenton couple, both in their 60’s, have been arrested and charged for aggravated assault charges after threatening the father of their grandchild with a knife and a shotgun and for manufacturing marijuana. The events played out in the early morning hours Thursday leading to the arrests of Alberta and Johnny Wimberly, aged 61 and 60 respectively, of Hammond Drive, Trenton.

According to an incident report, the father of the child was at the home of the mother when they heard someone knocking on the door around 1 am. The report states the couple ignored the knocking due to the late hour. A short time later, the Wimberly’s entered the home and at one point Mr. Wimberly produced a shotgun and Mrs. Wimberly grabbed a butcher knife while threatening the baby’s father while ordering him to leave the home.

A shotgun was recovered from The Wimberly home that was loaded with five live rounds. The butcher knife was also recovered.

During the investigation it was discovered that the Wimberly’s had marijuana plants going at their residence. The Sheriff’s Narcotics Division was notified and the plants were seized at the time of their arrest.

All of the evidence was collected in the case and the couple was booked into custody and has been charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and manufacturing marijuana.

A bond hearing is expected to be held today pending their possible release.
