Miss Summer Blast Queens Crowned
web
posted May 8, 2008
SALUDA – The Miss
Saluda County Organization crowned the first ever Miss Summer Blast
Queens on Sunday, May 4th. The pageant served as a fundraiser for
the Miss Saluda County scholarship fund. It was also a chance for
young girls from across the area to come to Saluda to meet our Miss
Saluda County Queens and their princesses. The pageant consisted
of both eveningwear and an onstage interview. The interview is an
essential part of the Miss America system and was placed in the Miss
Summer Blast competition to allow the young ladies a chance to gain
confidence while speaking in front of a crowd.
It is the Miss Saluda County Organization’s belief that interview is
the biggest learning tool of pageants and should be used frequently in
competition in order to give contestants life tools. The
organization is extremely proud of all the participants as they all
successfully completed all areas of the competition with grace and
poise.
The winners were as follows: Alaina Bledsoe, Baby Miss Summer
Blast, Keiondra Alewine, Runner-up for Baby Miss, Maddie Secomski,
Toddler Miss Summer Blast, Brayden Meeh, Runner-up for Toddler Miss,
Alyson Adkins, Tiny Miss Summer Blast, MaKenzie Lumley, Runner-up for
Tiny Miss, Lauren Meeh, Petite Miss Summer Blast, Rhaegan Turner,
Runner-up Petite Miss, Arianna Derrick Jones, Junior Miss Summer Blast,
Grace Moore, Runner-up Junior Miss, Marley Stokes, Preteen Miss Summer
Blast, Greyson Lake, Runner-up Preteen Miss, Andrea Dunton, Teen Miss
Summer Blast, Hannah Rogers, Runner-up Teen Miss, Chloe Noteboom, Miss
Summer Blast, Mae Ann Webb, Runner-up Miss. Photogenic winners
were Alaina Bledsoe, Maddie Secomski, Alyson Adkins, Lauren Meeh, Grace
Moore, Marley Stokes, Andrea Dunton, and Chloe Noteboom.
In conjunction with the pageant the Miss Saluda County Organization
also sponsored the Piggy Contest to raise money for the Children’s
Miracle Network. The participants were asked to enter a piggy
bank decorated in a creative fashion for judging. Each piggy bank
also contained money to be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network on
May 9th during the Miss Saluda County Queens trips to the Miss South
Carolina May Forum. The piggy contest winners were “Miss
Pig-anomical”, least expensive to make, Rhaegan Turner, “Miss
Pig-arageous”, most outrageously dressed, Ashley Storey, and “Miss
Penny Pusher”, most money raised, Madison Price.
There was also a drawing for a $100 cash prize. The winner was
Morgan Havird from Ridge Spring.
The organization would like to thank all the Saluda County residents
who have continued to show support of the queens by participating in
all events, giving sponsorships in the means of scholarships and ads,
and buying raffle tickets. The queens would also like to thank
all businesses who have donated items for use in the upcoming bingo
night on May17th, 6:30 at the Palmetto Dance Academy Grand
Ballroom. All your support of these events is working to make
this a very successful scholarship program for girls all over our
county.
