All eyes set on corks for Fishing Rodeo this Saturday
web
posted May 5, 2008
COUNTY – The Jimmy Shay Memorial Youth
Fishing Rodeo will be held this Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Lick Fork
Lake Recreation Area from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The rodeo theme is
“Get Hooked On Fishing Not On Drugs”. Children 12 years and under
will be allowed to fish with bait and tackle furnished. Lunch will be
served at no cost to children and their families.
Lick Fork Lake is located just off Highway 230 (West Martintown Road)
about ten miles north of Sportsman’s Corner. Once entering the Park
just follow the signs.
This event is organized by the Edgefield County Law Officer’s
Association in memory of State Trooper Jimmy Shay. Rodeo sponsors are
the Merriwether Fire Department, U.S. Forrest Services and the S.C.
Department of Natural Resources.
EdgefieldDaily.com has honored our $500 pledge to the Fishing Rodeo
earlier this year in addition to free advertisement.
The event will be well supervised by public safety personnel from
county and state agencies. The public is invited to attend and
encouraged to have a lot of family fun. Safety issues will be strictly
enforced. Read more here.
