Spooky Story Scores Second

web posted November 9, 2018

110918MMSMERRIWETHER - Merriwether Middle School seventh grader, Kylee Bishop, was selected as a finalist for the Nancy Carson Library ghost story writing contest. Her story entitled "Devil Doll" placed second among hundreds of entries from Edgefield and Aiken County middle schools.

Her prizes included a certificate, a $25 gift card to Amazon, and her teacher, Kim West, treated her to a Pink Dipper banana split.

Ms. West expressed, I am happy to report that Kylee revised, revised, and revised some more before submitting her story for the judges. Kylee impressed me with her willingness to be a true author and keep working until the perfect story was written, despite the large number of revisions she needed to make.

I really enjoyed writing the scary story. I loved revising it, and it gave me a taste of revising if I ever decided to publish something. I would love to thank Ms. West, my friends, and my grandmother for their support, enthusiastically shared Miss Bishop.

MMS is proud of Miss Bishop and of all the students who confidently wrote and submitted their stories.
