Missing Merriwether Woman Story Goes National

web posted October 3, 2014

MERRIWETHER A story that Edgefield Daily broke on Saturday, September 20, when Tamera "Tammy" Russell Kingery, 37, went missing from the family's Mealing Road home in Merriwether around 10 am that morning the news continued to spread across media outlets as well as social media and radio. Several searches have turned up nothing and the husband has now posted that he is offering a $1,000 reward for tips leading to her whereabouts on his FaceBook page. At 7 pm Thursday night, "Tammy" was featured by Jane Velez-Mitchell on her show on HLN network.

Local WJBF News 6 reporter Julie Parise was to be featured in the piece aired. Mitchell jumped on the note left saying she was going for a walk, would be back soon and "Love you". The "Love you" part of the note stood out to her as strange. That people don't say things like that unless they were going to be gone for an extended period of time.

You can view the video clip of the show they provide here.

Back in reality in Edgefield County, there are no new leads that can be released. Though not ruled out, an abduction is the least likely scenario that would account for her disappearance. Her husband, Park Kingery, has stated that his wife may have walked into the woods and taken her own life in on camera interviews with local Television News stations.

However, several searches of wooded areas around, and even near the home, have turned up nothing. Mitchell asked Tammy's father if he bought into the suggestion the note was "odd" and he agreed, but said lots of what is being said is odd.

Edgefield Daily asked the lead investigator on the case what he would say to those who claim they (the ECSO) should be out searching for her on a daily basis. "If they have an area they think needs to be searched, just let us know and we'll search it."
