Fox Creek Forced to Forfeit Entire Football Season

web posted April 4, 2011

MERRIWETHER – Fox Creek Charter School's entire football season is all for naught after new broke Friday that the South Carolina High School League ruled the Predators broke the rules on player eligibility. As such, the first time winning season with playoff games is now a winless season at 0-10, rather than the 8-4 they posted.

The SCHSL conducted an audit and the findings indicated that the Predators had an ineligible player participate in games. Under the rules, the games the player was involved - dressed out or playing (or not) - must be forfeited. That meant the entire season.
This is the second time Fox Creek has been reprimanded and punished by the SCHSL. In September of last year, 8 players from Fox Creek were suspended from play for one game after a brawl that broke out after the second half in the Fox Creek-North game on September 17. Two of the players were forced to sit out a second game as well.

Two players from the North team were also banned from playing in their next game for their part in the brawl.

Though the entire 2010-2011 season has been eviscerated, the SCHSL is not punishing the school for the upcoming year. The player in question has not been identified by the school and is believed to be a player that found time on the field at the JV and Varsity level.
