Burglars Strike Edgefield Beverage Center

web posted November 28, 2018

EDGEFIELD - Burglars struck Saturday at the Edgefield Beverage Center in Apple Square Plaza, destroying a glass window and making off with over $2000.00 worth of merchandise.

The alarm company notified the ECSO of a glass break alarm just before 2:00 AM.  Upon arrival, the responding officer observed the broken window at the front of the business.  Two cement blocks were on the floor inside.  The deputy heard what sounded like a loud vehicle leaving from behind the business.

The officer saw an older model red Ford F150 drive down Country Club Road and cross Columbia Road onto Star Road.  An ECSO lieutenant arrived, along with an officer from the Edgefield Police Department.  The officers entered and cleared the business locating no one inside.

The back door had been left standing open and 9 boxes of mini bottles were left there.  It was noticed that the back door of the adjoining business, Regional Finance was kicked in as well.

An investigator was summoned to the scene as officers combed for more evidence.  Fresh tire tracks were noted, and the electric meter to the business had been thrown in the dumpster.

The owner of Edgefield Beverage Center provided the investigator with a list of the items taken from the store.
