Called County Council Meeting October 24th

EDGEFIELD - There will be a called county council meeting at the County Council Chambers on October 24th, 2018 at 6:00 PM.  The agenda is posted below.

Councilís meetings shall be conducted pursuant to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, Councilís Rules and Robertís Rules of Order,
latest edition, in the event Councilís Rules do not cover the procedural issue at hand. This agenda may be modified prior to or during the meeting.

1. Consideration of Approval of Second Reading of Ordinance Number 18-19-748, ďAn
Ordinance to amend Chapter 18 Article III, Flood Damage Prevention to the Edgefield
County Code, ďAn Ordinance Establishing Regulations Designed To Promote The Public Health, Safety And General Welfare Of Edgefield Countyís Citizenry In The Event Of An Inundation Which Poses Loss Of Life, Property, Disruption Of Commerce And Governmental Services, Extraordinary Public Expenditures Of Flood Protection And Relief, And Impairment Of The Tax Base, All Of Which Adversely Affect The Public Health, Safety, And General Welfare.Ē

Council recently adopted the new FEMA flood maps. Staff recently learned that
certain changes needed to be made with the existing flood prevention ordinance to
comply with the National Flood Insurance Program. These changes are to ensure
compliance with those regulations so that Edgefield County residents will remain
covered by the program.
