Man Shot Near Plum Branch Road and Highway 25N

web posted January 30, 2019

EDGEFIELD - A homeowner called police Monday evening about a suspicious man rolling around on his front porch.  An Edgefield County Sheriff's Department deputy arrived to find a man sitting on the porch with a towel on his leg, stating that he had been shot.

Ther deputy immediately alerted his sergeant and called for EMS.

When asked what happened, the victim claimed that he was in a black Lexus, at the intersection of Plum Branch Road and Highway 25N with an unknown, black male, possibly a teenager from Saluda.  The victim stated that the young man tried to rob him, and when he told him he had nothing, the suspect shot him in the car.

The victim claimed that he jumped from the vehicle and ran to get into a ditch, losing his rose gold, Iphone 7 Plus.  Once the vehicle left, he crawled to the porch.

Two deputies searched the intersection for the phone or shell casings, but found none.  When the victim was being loaded into the ambulance, he offered another story.

The victim said that the vehicle he had been riding in pulled over at the intersection.  He alledgedly asked the driver what he was doing, and the driver stated that he was being followed.  At this time, the victim claimed that a black male got out of the car behind them, ran up and hit the window, trying to rob him.

The victim said that after he told the man that he had nothing, the man shot him while he was sitting in the back passenger seat. He then claims to have gotten outand ran towards the ditch until the cars left.
