Aiken's LeDuc Tapped as Interim Administrator
web posted April 12, 2011
EDGEFIELD – The Edgefield County
Council held a
special called meeting Monday night and after convening in executive
session emerged to announce they were hiring an interim administrator
on a temporary basis until the new administrator position can be
advertised, the candidates vetted, and the top pick hired. Former City
Manager of Aiken, Roger LeDuc, was tapped for the position on a 3-1
vote with Councilman Willie Bright abstaining. Councilman Norman Dorn
Chairman Dean Campbell stated prior to the vote that an interim
administrator was not a position that had to be advertised for as the
full time administrator's position will. Chairman Campbell stated that
there will be a contract, which should be made available soon, but
there will be no benefits, severance pay, and the contract can be
terminated at anytime without any repercussions fiscally for the county.
Mr. LeDuc will be paid $50 an hour for his services not to exceed 40
hours a week. Some weeks may include fewer hours.
Mr. LeDuc was the City Manager for Aiken from 1998 until retiring in
2011. He was the Public Works Director from 1986 until 1998. Prior to
that he was the Public Works Director for the City of North Augusta
from 1981 through 1986 and an Engineering Consultant in the Chicago
area from 1972 until 1981.
Mr. LeDuc stated he looked forward to working with the county council
in the upcoming months to during the budget process and delving into
the budget currently before the council. With just minutes on the job,
he could not offer any further comments on the position.
He will started work immediately.
