Pontoon boat stolen from local business

web posted July 24, 2010

COUNTY LINE – Boating may be a great way to cool off during the 100 degree days we are experiencing, however; a local man will be staying on shore after arriving at his cabinet shop Thursday afternoon and finding his 20-foot pontoon boat stolen.

The boat is described as a 2005 Smoker Craft Sun Chaser that is beige with blue and gold stripes and a blue top. The boat appeared to have struck at least one tree when the person or persons made off with the boat and trailer and may have damaged the boat on the left side. The boat registration numbers are SC 3779 BU.

The boat has a Johnson 60HP engine that is white in color.

A Sheriff’s Deputy was able to locate and photograph tire tracks of the vehicle used to haul the boat away. It is believed the theft took place between Tuesday at 6 pm and Thursday.

The boat has a serial number of SMK82896E505 and the trailer, a single axle Road King, bears the serial number 5KZBB20186A010124.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office at 803-278-1625 or 803-637-5337.

The boat and trailer are valued at $15,000.
